Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel, "300" concerns the 480 B.C. Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army against the advancing Persians; the battle is said to have inspired all of Greece to band together against the Persians, and helped usher in the world's first democracy.

this movie was a pile of shit. it was extremely inaccurate. the persian king was a fuckin mexican homo wit jewelry around him. i want everybody to google search king xerxes and see how he really looks like. and in real life, the persians raped them within the first day. i got ppl sayin "who cares, 300 ppl killed alot for their small army, which makes the persians suck" wtf do u expect, thats wt war is about, about how many men u can get, and where u can put'em.

what makes you think that google will have an accurate image of the persian king? How would you know if it was accurate and if in this he wasn't? Even an ancient painting wouldn't be accurate because as with all paintings of those times, they were made to see as powerful as possible, it's propaganda.

The film is positive, optimistic message that envisions a new, stronger, more prosperous world because of the Greeks Bravery. You should embrace that message and retool your message with a new approach. Remember the GREEKS earned their victories. Is there hope for a brighter future with the current iranian leaders, NO instead you articulate no counter compelling vision so you are as lost as iran is and will be should it continue on its current road to destruction.

I don't know how many persians they were. They definetely were spreading the rumour themselfs that there were hundreds of thousands but there are no data concerning that. But historical sources agree that there were 300 spartans plus 700 from another region of greece (thespies).

On they contrary, the film is gay. The protagonist just yells his way thru the film. The animation is so overblown it's ridiculous. The mammoths and rhinos going over the cliff are hilarious.
Perhaps it would be a good film if one were to smoke crack while watching it.

Dude boukephalos, just because people like the movie, doesn't mean it's good. And yes, the movie is absolutely retarded. Spartans DID NOT battle half-naked, the only equipment that was realistic was their spear and shield, even the helmets were off... Secondly, Leonidas makes fun of Athens, when their navy saves their asses at this battle WHICH WASN'T EVEN SHOWN.
