This is the original UNCENSORED music video for the Human League's "Don't You Want Me" as directed by Steve Barron in 1981! (Watch in high quality for maximum enjoyment!)
This famous music video was released on VHS and Betamax in the UK on a "Video Single" in 1983, and that is where this copy is sourced from. All subsequent releases of this video on VHS or DVD (and probably even versions shown on television) are a CENSORED VERSION that removes many shots of Jo Callis and Phil Oakey pointing a revolver out of a car window. It replaces them with slow-motion repeats of other bits of the video. The censored version can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arUqoKjU3D4 Apparently those edits was made by the BBC, who refused to broadcast it uncensored. This is the original uncensored version without any tampering from television networks, and has not been released on video or shown on television in 25 years (to my knowledge)!
Some technical notes: this was sourced from an original PAL copy of the Human League Video Single on VHS. I then resynchronized the picture to the remastered version of the song itself; a stereo version, replacing the original mono track on the tape. (Depending on how you watch this, you may or may not hear stereo audio). I also performed some color correction to improve the picture quality.
Please do enjoy this classic music video, in its original director's cut which has been forgotten for over a quarter of a century!
