It was her first role. Before that she starred in an avantgare film but I don't hink this was a big role. And I think it even sais it in the beginning credits starring for the first time Whoopi Goldberg. I remember how stunned I was when I read it many years after the first time I watched it and Whopi was famous. I hadn't realise it was her.
